Sunset… wherever beach in this world it buffs, is always marvelous. This particular photo was shot at Tanjung Aru Beach, where a special attraction is the spectacular sunset. Tanjung Aru beach is only 15 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu town centre. You can board a bus or taxi along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, or you may directly drop by soon as you ‘landed’ as it is just about the same distance from the MAS airport, and about half the distance from Air Asia terminal.
Shooting sunset needs an extra precautious, as a ‘complicated’ lighting condition may fool the camera metering, and upsetting our excitement to the God’s astonishing creation. To overcome this, shooting RAW is really advisable, as it allows us to apply a wider range of quality improvisations, adjustments and enhancements (except, for the ‘Parkinson’ failure).
As a novice, my RAW shot of this sunset saves me from knocking my head into my computer screen for my disappointments of over a dozen ‘bin-wise’ shots – plain sunset, with no point of significance interest. This is the only shot that has a nicely silhouetted subject, a group of people framed by a coupler tree, but in term of image quality, I misjudged the right WB and exposure and it turned to be dull and bluish (not ‘expressing’ the real scene on that evening). RAW shot saved my day.

Wow Ramdan... I found myself gazing at this shot of yours for more than 10 seconds (I think).
A deserving 2-point work!
p/s: I think I know your subject... heheheheh

Selamat menyambut Maal Hijrah. Terima kasih atas ulasan pokok jarak.
Nice composition of this sunset scene. The silhouette of the people there creates the appreciation for nature's creation. Beautifully contemplated scene with this aspect ratio.

The right mood for this capture, Ramdan, with silhouette outline very nicely done. The light exposure of 1/1250s seems a bit fast on numerical term but it works well for the effect of warm sunset colors here.
Technically f/10 is a good aperture to give DOF, and my only wish is to see less of the large darkness of tree at the top, which lost details in this way and make it the same as being cropped.
I do find the tree as framing is well chosen. Great shot in your own way and I do find it well done. TFS

Very nice silhouette picture. Good idea by using the tree as your frame. Keep up the good work.

This is truly a master piece of contrast. Excellent frame created by the dark shadows and those gold eveing colors are just majestic
Very good composition, indeed
