Hello TE

At the east side of Maiga Island, looking to the north.

Earlier you have seen the coconut palms in abstract and the huts by themselves, but here you will see how tall the palms grow on this Maiga Island, estimated to be 30-45m high and clearly seen miles away in the sea. Here, the tide was drawing out and the boats were resting by the side of the huts. The word 'shelter' works well here in this island, as the palms indicate that destructive strong wind is rare to allow them to grow tall and straight - no fallen palms. So the huts are safe from wind forces. I strolled along the beach and found the tall palms a good framing subject both vertically and horizontally and put focus on them. No direct strong light, so the exposure was mild.

Happy viewing. Regards, Bill

Hello Bill. These swaying palms are really tall here and you have rightly framed in vertical format. The wide angle really works with the height of the trees and you have clipped the bank exposing the earth well against the sand. Beautiful images of the houses on stilts here and the hill along the horizon balances the whole perspective. Very well done and have a wonderful day ahead. Nice weather here with blue sky and I am itching to be out... lol. Best regards. Jusni

Absolutely a beautiful combination between the tiny fisher's housing, the tall coconut trees and the fine weather make it perfect. Just suggest to step back and included the leaves of the last coconut tree. But over all i like this shot Bill, thanks for showing that.

daniel

Good comparison with the Bajau's huts to demonstrate the height of the coconut palms.

Hi Bill,
fantastic composition, very well thought and very well made!
The vertical format of the photography has an impressive force, with the extended palms going off towards the blue sky, is brilliant!
The colors contrast perfectly and great definition of image.

Best regards, Jordi

Hi Bill,
This is an excellent vertical composition. You've made the right choice. I can see strength and boldness in this shot.

Miguel

Hey Bill,

I think I didnt get to comment this one, so I`ll do it now.
A beautiful motive. Vertical compo works fine. It gives the impression of the immense size of the palm trees (well, actually, not just the impression, they are immense), the coconuts must be deadly when falling down, brr.

Another great tropical/paradise scene from you, lucky you. :>

See you.

Hi Bill!
Well done! This vertical frame is really like a painting. Huge tress on the left and tiny cabins in the distance creating a beautiful perspective and view, combined with great sharpness and vivid colors

Hello Bill,
Je suis vraiment impressionné par la hauteur de ces cocotiers !
Les noix de coco tombent de très haut là-bas, il faut faire très attention :o)))
Excellent point de vue et très bon cadrage,
Bien à toi,
Robert

Hello Bill. You have a good compilation of works in your gallery I could hardly catch up. This is a very nice presentation of the refreshing island scene and the great height of coconut palms - as you might know vertically long format appeals to me a great deal. I also feel that missed tip of the palm tree is unfortunate, was this the lowest position you could shoot from, had you aimed higher the treetop was still too tall to fit? Happy shooting. K.

bill
I guess I never saw coconut palm trees so hight like these ones. WOW ! Perfect framing, pov and subject. The little houses on the sea are fabulous tos ee too and the mountain and clouds are nicely in the compo too. perfect, congratulations
