Photographer’s Note
gathered for long term use. this organic-man-made spiral object is actually ladders which are used to climb and take highly located swift nest during swift nest harvesting season in Gua Gamantong. as old ropes can be dated back to ancient times, this organic material was long been used by Sabahan locals to tie up their things and anything thats related to ropes and knots. with a sturdy look, one can use this rattan ladders to climb up more than 50 metres high above ground level.
just hold on thight and you wont lose your life=) these rattan ladders are very durable and long-lasting (only with certain care measurements). unlike the chemical made Kernmantel ropes that are ussually used for rockclimbings, these ladders are organics so they need to be cared from other harmful creatures such as-pest especially termites!
Rattan are not only used for making ladders, it can be used for decorative and furnishing purposes. Rattan made tables and seats are highly demanded in modern decor especially hotels. Underestimating it will be a big mistake when you can earn thousands with just
growing rattan in your land. like these Rattan ladders, eventhough they are not built for sale, but they are built for money. Swifts nest selling per year can reach millions of dolars in the open market, and all thanks to the organic materials of the forest!
