Photographer's Note

This is as close as it gets to living directly by the sea!

This is a typical house on stilts, built by the Sea Bajau, who live in the area of the estern coast of Malaysian Borneo. Despite the rickety look, these houses turn out to be very resistant to wind and waves, so common during voilent thunderstorms that occur in that part of the world. They provide little shelter from the rain, but this is basically all those people can afford. Sea Bajau lifestyle, although extremely poor, is closely associated with the beautiful nature that surrounds them - a vosion of paradise for some.
