If you happened to be in Kundasang or putting up in the Perkasa Hotel in Kundasang, Ranau, you might like to take a walk or a little trek in the misty little pine forest behind the hotel.
The short trek starts with a canopy walk with an hour or two of trail traversing the forested hillside. This short trek is a welcome difference to the humid and sweaty rainforest trekking as is common in Sabah. For a good workout, you might like to start your walk from Kundasang itself. From Kundasang, take the 1km uphill walk to Perkasa Hotel and when you reached the hotel, take the sidewalk on the right side of the hotel.
The trail starts with a little canopy walk but in this photo, with the mist wafting through the trees, the suspended walk seems to go forever.

Nice mistical place. Well composed. Looks like a bit oversharpened. Thanks.

Weird looking colors but beautiful picture because of the spooky looks :)
Darren (6823) 2006-04-13 2:38
Really interesting colors here and I think a very good capture of the trail and the feel of a rainforest.

it has been a while, indeed. You have been productive, I'll try to catch up.
At first glance, this shot reminded me of a computer adventure game, where one enters some kind of strange new world/level. The path disappearing in the mist is a great effect, I'd like to walk there, too!

excellent POV and framing,
love the effect of the mist over the forest,
very well captured,

Very evocative, atmospheric photo with ehanced colours and good contrast of vertical trees and horizontal signs. Great feeling of depth. Thanks for the notes, too, Rabani.

Beautiful colours, and perfect atmosphere to catch a rain forest scene. This looks like a fun excursion.

Adventure in image... Wow! This is an impressive and atmospheric photo you’ve captured. With the mist, the dense vegetation and the presence of so many warning signs, that bridge become theathning.
There’s a whole story in this one, because of the chosen elements and set-up that makes your imagination go round...
I really appreciate all the details we can feel throughout this shot; definitely an engaging point of view that makes you want to cross this bridge, but not without serious doubt...

Hello Rabani, very nice composition. This is so mysterious place. Fabulous colours. Very well done. I like this mystic subject.

Hi Rabani. Fantastic mood here - a nice mysterious misty feel. Rich luxurious colours and good depth too. The sign is funny - they're not leaving much to chance!
baba_flies (8829) 2006-04-13 10:33
Amazing that even in the last corner of our planet it is obviously necessary to put on signs like "do not litter" ... nice picture by the way. Great how the path vanishes ...
Kirych (2707) 2006-04-13 12:35
Fantastic shot, in particular composition and colors combination.
Unusual perspective with vertical trees. I like bright flowers and fog.
kinginexile (2598) 2006-04-13 14:07
What an impressive image, and brought out especially by a top definition, and great color of the blue haze against super-saturated rain-forest greens. As I like to add sometimes, this qualifies as a double pager in a Natl Geo article.
Stepan (27210) 2006-04-13 14:21
Good atmosphere and perspective to feel like being in front of that bridge. I can feel the humidity. Well composed.
nwoehnl (122) 2006-04-14 3:15
Beautiful photo, Bani, very mist-erious (haha). The haze gives a good mood, and it looks like a complicated place to take a hike if one has to memorize this long list of instructions, lol. Lovely "tropical" colors, too, very nice one. Greetings from Hiroshima.
arnabchat (7233) 2006-04-14 4:18
very nice. nice to see the notice board.
reminds me of Lolaygaon, where there is an exactly similar canopie walk through the misty conifers.
carper (96) 2006-04-14 4:24
Marvelous photo my friend.
the mystic of the photo is great, the perspective is very nice and the point of view is great, this is a well taken shot. Very good job you did here.
ChrisJ (111504) 2006-04-14 5:58
I like the warm cold color opposition between the red yellow sign & green foliage. The walking trail & bridge add depth. Bagus!

I thought I recognised this, Bani! I stopped at the Perkasa Hotel for lunch last year when I was visiting friends who have a farm near Kundasang. Good composition and exposure, capturing the misty atmosphere well. I don't agree with Denis (first critique) that this is over-sharpened, but it does look a touch over-saturated to me. Cheers . . . David

the last one but the best one!
superb fresh picture.
Didi (60586) 2006-04-15 6:09
I think that Indiana Jones went there to found some treasure.
Lovely colours here and nice perspective.
I think you must trespassing the bridge to explore the area.

Selamat Pagi Pak Bani
This is one cool and interesting shot. A simple subject and common angle that goes through the lens and came out a great picture.
A little over saturated but cool effect, man.
Cheers and good day.

Rabani...I can't keep my eyes away from this scene. So captivating! Superb ambience and colors. Good job, man!
jrj (34843) 2006-04-18 8:34
What a delightful compo. The whole setting and colours so strange an yet inviting. Very good use of the bridge and all the signs. Excellent work.
BUT: I think I would not have been the last 80 kg on that bridge if it was already filled with 220 kg's....

This looks like a cartoon ,I always consider Malaysia as a colorful country but this one is beyond every expectation. The colors and DOF are phenomenal and the framing is excellent.TFS.

Wow, l'ambiance mystérieuse donne vraiment son charme a cette photo. Les couleurs sont très belle et surtout très clair. Une très belle composition. Bravo Rabani. Merci pour le partage ;)

Hmm I've got a similar photo but I didn't have any daylight to work on as I took it at night.... it did look sort of ok in black and white... but it was too grainy. Nice one
andreng (265) 2006-11-14 2:35
I am reviewing your past postings. Very nice saturated colors and I am surprised to see the nice green railings they have used for this canopy walk. Your camera managed to get the exposure nicely. The blue mist did wonders to this shot and like you said made the walk go on forever. Keeping the sign there is a nice touch. One thing that strikes me there was there is no indication on how much you will be fined for littering or vandalizing. Also I am surprised that the max capacity is only 4 persons at any one time. You will really need a traffic cop there then there are many visitor.
