Standing at the monument of Tanjung Simpang Mengayau or Tip of Borneo, you could feel the late evening sunlight spreading across the peninsular and the bay, the warm light converting the area to look unlike the evergreen mode during the day. I looked all around in search of the best scene to shoot. To the west would be mostly the sea and horizon.

Therefore, I pointed my camera to this direction of the peninsular and land mass. As the warm light came over at a low angle, this was what I took to share with you. The strong wind was constantly blowing. I think a high angle or pov (like a helicopter?) will let me observe very far into the land mass and give a better perspective, but too bad this spot is already the highest point of the area. I hope you like this view.

A note of caution : a certain stretch of road coming to this place would be very difficult by saloon car, with a lot of potholes and uneven bumps. So a 4x4 or pick-up would be best transport mode to use.

Regards, Bill

Bonsoir Bille
Un joli cliché avec la lumière rasante du soir qui donne de belles couleurs chaudes. Belle profondeur d'image, le regard suit bien le chemin.
Merci pour le partage et bonne soirée.
Nicole

Hey Bill,

Nicely done, yet again. A very good motive, with a fine lush background (like the palm trees), Malaysia certainly is something special.

An elaborate choice of framing, I like it.

See you round.

very nice shot, Bill, I like a lot the warm light that contrasts so well with the cool blue of the sky behind the clouds. beautifully composed photo too, the gently curving path perfectly leads the eye towards those interesting buildings, while the half-circles on the left remind me of mandala - same feeling of calm peace. excellent work, I like it a lot.

with kind regards,
Kristine

Hi Bill,
You caught some great light here, and that's what it's all about. The warm toning on the hill in the background is wonderful, but also the lines in the landscape created by the road, perfect.
Last detail the sky with soft clouds, but dominant in the framing...great work, i like it a lot.
Regards, Henk

The first time someone from outside, actually did justice to my favorite location in my home town. I like it a lot Bill. Wide open spaces with the colors and shadows of sunset affecting the grassy land's end landscape. Almost dreamy with a hint of Renaissance.

Thank you my friend. Kudat will always welcomes you.

Hello Bill. A few points worth noting here. This shows how careful is your composition now. You have chosen the perfect diagonal lighting for this shot. Light and shadow created ambiance and vividness in the composition. I noticed how you have pinned the handrail right at the bottom right frame and the pavement's cut-off point on the bottom left frame. I'll be happy if I could manage just one. A master at work with the perspective of the leading road up the hill. I am amazed with your progress and I was thinking of you and our friends here when I was in Langkawi. It would have been nice to be in the same party and exchanging tips from each other. The youngest being 17 right to 70yo. The workshops were carried out by pros. No survey done but my guess is >50% are with their D300 - well, this picture is well worth much more credit than the equipment. Well done Bill and have a nice day.

Jusni

p/s: I was happy with my D40 as the main camera as the D80 was attached with the tele zoom.
