Tanjung Simpang Mengayau means The Cape Of The Wandering Crossroad, or simply, the Tip of Borneo. Our 2nd last day was spent here. It is believed to be the most northern tip of the whole Borneo island. The mountain rocks here are believed to be submerged into the sea and subject to wind abrasion over a long period of time. The weathering effect created carvings on the rocks. This view looks to the west. Worth a visit and a good spot for shooting. At far top right, where you see a flag, there will be a monument with a map inscribed on it.

The wind was so strong here that my tripod and camera will shake while I was down near the water surface shooting. The waves splashing on the rocks, although you can see the clear water and the corals below. During the stay, several vessels were noticed passing by in the distance. This Tip of Borneo has become a tourist attraction now. Driving 2.5 hours from KK airport towards Tuaran, Kota Marudu and Kudat. I had earlier posted the cows strolling on the road, that would be after Tuaran. We stayed a night at nearby Kudat and next day took a flight back.

Thank you for viewing. Regards, Bill

Hej Bill
Thank you for the good note.
I never went as far up as this, just to Kudat and out to the big Island Pulau Bangi.
I think you catched a good imagination of lands end and with a feeling of a hot tropical day with that little haze thats makes anyone sick of all tropical disease you can came up with. maybe the Tamarisk disturbs a bit.
Selamat malam

Hey Bill,
A perfect shot with great contrast & colors. I love the clarity of the water. Great POV as well. Congratulations!!! TFS
Greetings,
Natasha

Don't you just love the clear water Bill. Beautiful high angle capture with the Malaysian flag standing proud on the cliff. The tall trees with nice canopy hit the sweet spot contrasting well against the rocky wall under the diagonal light. Thanks for sharing this one and very well done. Best regards. Jusni

Hi Bill

Hey Bill,

Another masterpiece, you lucky guy. This is something I`d want to have here - right now. :)
Beautiful execution as always, perfectly composed, saturated and sharpened. Lovely clarity.

See you around.

Hi Bill,
This reminds me of my days in Puerto Gallera, Phils. Great shot. You managed to take a good photo in a strong wind.

Regards
Miguel

That's a beautiful little corner of the world. Nice the view to the beach with a good perspective. The colours and the light are great.
Best wishes,
Achim

This is a beautiful seascape from a good POV. The water near the shore is crystal clear and the tree seemingly growing out of the rock is an interesting feature of the image. Good light and contrasts. Well done

Hi Bill,
The POV is very advantageous and you took good profit of it to make a very nice compo. The clearness of that water is superb and the colours of all the image very well rendered. It's a pity that the sky is so dull, but you couldn't do anything about it.
Regards, José.

Hey,
Very nice shot. Graet colours and atmosphere.
