The Tip of Borneo is a promontory that juts out to sea and while in Malay it is called Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, in English it means The Cape Of The Wandering Crossroad.

Years ago, this promontory was the secret fishing and camping ground for the locals in Kudat. My father went here by boat to fish and my mum, cycled with her Chinese friends through the coconut plantation for their Sunday outings. It was the locals best kept secret.

It was after someone from this area made himself the Chief Minister of Sabah, busload after busload of tourists come flocking thru the newly constructed dusty gravel road to this promontory or the Land's End of Sabah.

This terrazzo walkway takes you to the plaza where a concrete ball sitting beside the Malaysian Flag, marked the safest point of being at the Tip Of Borneo. You can also opted to climb down the sandstone cliff to the waves washed piece of rock that locals called Batu Mandian (Bathing Rock)that juts out to sea which is really the Tip of Borneo.

Hi Rabani

The tip of Borneo has been given a lot of attention from Sabah photographers and is fast becoming a destination for tourist stops.

In this pov, you presented yet another great attraction of good sunshine and landscape scene. I can see a good road leading to the sea for convenience of drivers.

Well done. TFS

Assalamualaikum Rabani,

Visit Malaysia Year 2008. Superbly written notes accompanying this wonderful capture. I'd like to visit this place having the opportunity. I have been to the south most point of Asian continent mainland and this will be a good addition. Harsh lighting but you still managed to shoot this one brilliantly. Well done Sir!!!

Regards,
Jusni

Hello Rabani,

The light in this image is excellent. The clarity and sharpness make this a very pleasant picture. Your perspective is effective by including the woman on the right. She give us an idea of the width of this road. Good work and indeed this place seem very pretty from this point. Thanks Rabani.

Roberto

Hello Rabani:

One takes great depth and balance in the composition.

The point of interest, apart from the lady who comes walking is the way that seems to lead to a scenario filled with light, brightness and color. Great work.

John

I like the background notes, and of course another excellent shot with filtered blue sky, green landscape, a leading driveway and presumably a pretty girl at just the right position to add life to this shot.
