Coconut Shoot
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
When life become difficult, we try to find any type of food. After that we don’t have to think about "How much should I eat?" "What kind of food do I need to nourish our self?" "Why do I feel guilty about eating" and "Why do I sometimes feel compelled to over (or under) eat?". Then there is no reason to feel shame or blame with regards to food and eating.
This picture was taken near Simpang Mangayau “The Tips Of Borneo” in the Kudat district, its about 172km from Kota Kinabalu. The old women and granddaughter took the coconut shoot for their dinner
Ps ; Umbut Kelapa sangat sesuai kalau masak tumis dengan ikan masin |

Hello Fadzil
Very good close shot of the grandmother and girl (I am guessing from the age gap)
.nice story from this photo
.good Note
.sharp details on both persons
.great pov
.nicely composed to include surroundings
.great color of things around them
You showed in this shot that they are simply having a normal meal, which to other people may not be a proper meal for nutritional purpose.
In this one photo, you showed many things that poor folks have to endure to survive. It is a photo telling story, Fadzil.
And you have shot a winner here. Much like what Rabani shot with his musical man or haunched woman on the street with a story behind.
The colorful dress of the woman adds a lot of contrast here. Her darker skin tone blends well with the wood tone around her.
Both of them busy at what they do, is a sign that you are a good photogapher that did not make them nervous.
Then, the color of coconut trunk cut and the bark freshly in front of them.
Contrast this against the BG of white sand and blue sea.
Better still, you are fully aware to keep that small horizon level, Fadzil. A good sharp eye paying to fine details.
Sorry abou this lengthy comment, Fadzil, but I couldn't any better than your shot and probably would miss to notice this view altogehter.
Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, bill
Hi, what a great picture, I like the way you caught this moment between a grandma and his grandaughter.

For 1/80s, I had missed this scene.
This photo was taken when fadzilaffendy and I was working on an assignment to document the lives of people, living along this beach along the Tip of Borneo. Most of them are Suluk, migrated from the southern part of the Philippines in the early 70s.
Just like any other activities, you have to stay focused from the moment the event starts all the way till it ends. And not just the camera.
Good work Fadzil.
Regards
