[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The first time Jenni went in front of the lens was when she was barely two years old. Her Swedish father and Rungus mother left Jenni to be raised by her Rungus grandma. She is now going five and attending school and pretty much behave and talk, just like any other Rungus children her age. Her only question is, why she looks different from her friends and cousins.

In the photo, she sits on the veranda of her longhouse while waiting for her mum and dad to come home every weekend from Kota Kinabalu.

It's always quiet and sleepy in the late afternoon. Little wisp of breeze waft through the bamboo grills lulling you to sleep. In the distance, you can hear drifts of conversation floating in the peaceful air.

Photographically, when shooting inside a longhouse, refrain from popping the flash. Raise your ISO and select the aperture which gives you the shutterspeed that you can handhold.

Hello Rabani,
Nice softness, colors, and skin tone. The lighting is great too. She is a very pretty & sweet looking girl. The way she is seated in a bamboo & rattan environment really makes this a unique catch. Recently I got myself a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens. It works so well with portraits & gives much flexibility for indoor shooting ... so far I only shot family & private photos with that. Salam. Latiff.

Hey Bani! Looking at this pic puts a big smile on my face... I remember meeting little Jennifer when I was staying over at Bavanggazo longhouse last August....

in fact, I even took a picture of her and uploaded it here! http://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=725176

haha.. what an amazing coincidence! she's grown since i last saw her.. and i noticed her hair's lost it's brown hue and become more darker now.

ahhh... little jennifer. you are going to break lots of young men's hearts when you grow up :)

Another interesting documentation in a rungus longhouse.

I agree with you on the ISO settings since if we let the flash to pop out, the picture will record enough lighting except that our picture will often look more unnatural. its better to have the natural lights to fill in the shades. either use a tripod or increase ISO.

amazingly your pictures recorded well balanced lighting with no harsh highlights. 1/15 ss is quite challanging. yet you manage to get it smooth and sharp... congrats

Assalamualaikum Rabani,

This one has to be one of the best portrait that I have seen in a long time. I like the expression on her face as she is holding something like a lolly and leaning to that bamboo wall. The space on the left of this picture depicts the emptiness of this living area. Honestly I was about to try out a workshop but the picture is already flawless. The natural lighting through the bamboo wall creating natural soft focus to this whole composition.

Very good job sir - well done!

Regards,
Jusni

p/s: Was checking out your TL posts maybe a month ago and left critiques there but I guess you have given it a rest for a while.
