Photographer's Note
It's not that difficult to shoot children. The trick is getting them to be comfortable with you, even before you start to consider anything about the kind of gears and lighting you need to get the job done.
Once they are comfortable with you, you would know this when they start to kid around you. But children being children, even if they are comfortable with you, it's not easy to choreograph them into the poses which you think would be suitable.
The best bet would be to let them have fun and game, and getting yourself into their midst. Usually children would be expressive naturally when they are at play. By getting among them and at the same level, you could get up close and personal with them and at what they are having fun with.
In this photo, a group of children blowing soapy bubbles as their game of choice. To get the bubbles, remote trigger the flash and do the shooting preferably indoor. That way you could get the rainbow colors in the bubbles and their expressions better.
Most of all, have fun with them.
