Photographer’s Note
The shelter marks the point on the trail map where it's called Sayat Sayat. It's about 7KM from the starting point or entrance called Timpohon Gate. The trail to Low's Peak is roughly about 9km and from where this photo was taken, you have another 2km to go. Only when you reach KM8, only then you get to see the tallest peak in South East Asia.
The peak with the swirling cloud approaching it is South Peak near the KM7.5 point. It usually takes 2 days to reach the summit. The first day is the 6KM hike to the base camp Laban Rata, with the walking attempt to the summit starting at 2am the next day. It usually takes about 3 hours to reach the summit, with the first 2 hours dark morning hike up on rocky mountain trail to Sayat Sayat.

Hi Rabani,
Impressive mountain photo you got here. Good details, colors, and perfect exposure. Just wondering why you have to start so early at 2 AM from Tanah Rata since it's only a tree hour hike from there. Coming down to base camp would be a lot faster I guess. Perhaps it would be nicer to make Sayat Sayat your second base camp for one or two nights? Would it be possible to hike up there solo & at your own pace? Not one critique for this? I think you know why :). Cheers. Salam. Latiff.
