Beautiful! I love the colors, the smiles, and more importantly the depth of field. The sharp forcus on the girl in front gives the eyes something to latch onto but at the same time does not diminish the importance of the girl in the background.
mimi (2325) 2004-03-19 21:26
Very nice portrait. I love the way the hood frame's the girl's face and provides a nice dark background. I might crop from the right to focus on the two girls.
soundsangels (1703) 2004-03-19 21:53
Belle composition sur de tres beaux sujets....
Couleurs tellement agréables et netteté d`image enviable!
Texte tres en harmonie avec l`esprit de TE.

You framed this one very well. Nice to see it.
Well done with a great note!

It's realy a strong photo you send us Ramani,
A face with two faces. The eyes of the woman are great. The composition is ver y good, the colours are good, Also very good job you did here, well done
nabghani (150) 2004-03-20 12:51
Well done Bani ... I like her eyes and the "mirror image" of sorts created by the presence of the other girl on the right. For me the blur on the second person made the picture that bit more compelling.
Luko (13998) 2004-03-22 6:01
A very nice portrait I saw in your gallery, from the colors to her tranquil smile. The first time I saw this pic I thought like Nazeri said that the second woman was in fact her mirror reflection.
I'm glad you posted it !
Where's Donggongon exactly?
mkurniawan (24) 2004-03-22 6:34

This is the one Rabain!
Realy good photo, great composition, good dof, and no frame that thakes the photo away. Very good job you did here. Bravo. ;)
HARDCHRIS (2041) 2004-03-24 13:22
Perfect composition and sharpness, you have cropped this picture perfectly too.The natural colours and the look of the girl on the right brings a lot together with the other girl well placed next to her.Well done
scalerman (26900) 2004-03-26 13:45
Beautifully captured. I think you took the picture right when she glanced your way. Nicely focused as well.
mcreider (673) 2004-03-29 1:07

Intruder (3099) 2004-04-03 17:32
excellent portrait Rabani, clear colours and a beautiful lady, well done!
ebrakke (488) 2004-04-06 7:40
That's a very strong gaze. I get the impression that she did not get very much time to prepare for being photographed, which allows the sense of moment projected in the portrait - one of the better TE portraits I've seen so far. Suggestion: Maybe less upper cropping?
ianmcall (1213) 2004-04-14 6:11
This is a terrific photo. Everything works; the framing allows a view of the fabric to the right, the second girl is just clear enough to appreciate but the shallow DoF focuses our attention on the smile of the gorgeous young woman on the left.
My family spent this January in Malaysia (great place - go visit), and we were all struck by how attractive the people are; you captured a real beauty here.
eleparc (24063) 2004-04-20 5:44
I GUESS i missedthat shot of yours in amrch. very beautiful portrait! great light and subtle smile;-) your compo and crop are excellent as well as the use of DOF. congrats rabani
gringofil (0) 2004-04-29 11:02
What a look! And beautiful eyes to boot! Simply an magnificent shot. Very simple in composition, yet very powerful. The subject draws the viewer right in and does not let go for a single second (it was hard enough for me to break away and write this critique). No tips on how to improve this shot...amazing in all regards.
cloverstar (0) 2004-05-07 8:29
Very good portrait of this beautiful woman. The soft lighting has been captured well. I like the depth of field with the other lady out of focus. Good work, Rabani.

Beautiful girl, I love those eyes. I do like the capture of to person in that pose of there face.
Excellent compoced, light - contrast and color is perfect.
fapmap (250) 2004-05-24 9:04
Like Luko, I thought the second girl was a reflection of the first one... interesting shot.

Very beautiful picture ! Composition, DOF and expression on women face are just perfect. Thanks
burdallet (0) 2004-07-23 23:53
Beautiful , a look close to noble women of the medieval period here ( 500 to 1000 years ago )
compdrw (762) 2004-09-01 10:31
Superbe composition et quel regard!
Voilà un portrait très expressif réhaussé par l'ondulation du tissu. Le second plan renforce encore l'expression du visage au premier plan et crée un effet de miroir innattendu. Le cadrage serré compose parfaitement cette image.
sn00zie (2384) 2004-09-07 12:59
this is a beautiful picture. nice, clear, sharp with beautiful colors and clarity.

Very nice portrait, nice colors, these girls are simply beautiful. Good job.
Thanks for sharing.
kinginexile (2598) 2004-09-21 1:47
again a shot that invites thoughts, or it's my (vivid) imagination. It seems we could see the older woman as a reflection of the young one, but in later years.
A Dorian Gray portrait of sort!
jrzufferey (7301) 2004-10-13 3:45
Absolument superbe ce portrait Rabani,Amicalement/jr
alimo3 (6854) 2004-10-26 17:51
This is one of my favorite picture of TE.
I like the idea of mirror or sisters (made by the compo)
you win ZiiiiiiiiiiP to my favorite if you dont mind.

I can do nothing but join the ranks of admirers of this shot. Simply an amazing portrait.
everlasting (14694) 2004-11-03 22:45
I am far too late to add anything new to the commenbts and critiques. But this is very good. I thought at first glance that it was a reflection. DOF is good as are colours and textures.
billabongx (1585) 2004-11-04 5:14
Outstanding Rabani! Excellent photo with great contrast.
bip-bip (1837) 2004-11-05 11:56

I can only join the fan-club.
colinbrenchley (6431) 2004-11-05 18:05
Excellent close-up cropped portrait with added interest of second girl. The detail that is shown in this photo is good and makes the thunbnail stand out from the crowd.
waskahegan (0) 2004-11-06 20:17
lovely, the picture and the girl, I like the way you caught her look.
poulinp (4530) 2004-11-24 19:45
The picture is very sharp! I like the degraded depth of field , which gives a different degree of importance to the subjects. Cheer
smeagol (136) 2004-11-27 21:10
Absolutely superb! I love her gaze, along with your great composition and use of DOF. With a little sharpening, it's a perfect shot!
Eugene (971) 2004-12-21 15:11
fantastic picture. Good lightning and great expression of the left lady. I think that i would have croped it and would have left the right girl of the picture. In my view then you have more accent on the eyes of the left lady. But it is a matter of taste. Well done, Eugene
Ps. I did a small workshop for you, i hope you you like it.

Great expression! It's really nice the contrast between the couple of girls, because it gives the image a great depth of field. Regards.

Brilliant pic. Rabani, love that eyes and little hesitant smile on her face :)
pilpel-adom (3018) 2005-03-14 18:18
Good moment! The lady in the background looks so much the same as the subject, that you might have think this is a pre/post movement moment. Nice work!

banyanman (7789) 2005-07-20 11:55
Hi Rabani, it's taken me a while to catch up with this one, but it really is one of the best portraits I have seen on TE. I have added it to my favourites. I am always interested to see the workshops, and see how pictures can be improved, but on this occasion I don't think your original can be beaten. Composition, lighting and sharpness of the original are spot on in my opinion. One of the workshops was too soft and the other too hard. I must get over to Sabah one of these years on May 31. Cheers . . . David
Rushabh (389) 2005-09-29 0:32
Beautiful eyes and also the expression is awesome! TFS
jbweasle (9373) 2005-10-13 14:12
Hello Rabani. I've seen this picture so many times, I can't believe I haven't commented before. It's an excellent double portrait with good use of shallow DOF. I like the repetition of the faces with the girl behind but looking away so her eyes are not distracting the viewer. Very good composition.
mayabee (374) 2005-10-18 2:24
What a beautiful portrait! there's something mystersious about it, as first you think she's reflected in a mirror, and when you take a closer look you see it's a different girl. Great picture!
capthaddock (28790) 2005-10-18 20:28
Hi Rabani - very striking and powerful double portarit, lovely expressions.

Really beautiful portrait!
Good composition, colours and sharp.

I’ve read your comments with interest. I appreciate your profoundness and intelligent reflection.
Please forgive mine, that is more straight forward, because I don’t master English language like you do. I simply want to say that this photo really catch my attention, not only because the composition and beauty of the subject, but also for the intrigue and perplex look of the first woman, while the next one seems to be conscious of what is going on with her complice smile.
I’m new on this iste, so I have a lot of photographs to catch up and I will look at yours with great attention.
Thank you Rabani!

Excellent creativity. At first, I thought it was a mirror effect. Nice expression of the face captured, and nice tones.

Nice double portrait and one with beautiful colouring. The expression of the two women convey emotion but of a differing kind. To capture both at the same time is good timing. Nice atmosphere and good, tight cropping serves to deliver impact.

I love two faces in one frame.
Very sharp and colorful.
Well done & TFS,

Hi, wonderful portrait of the two ladies in their traditional clothes. The focus on the lady in the front is sharp with a good DOF on the lady in the back. She fills the photo and also gives a nice background.
Thank you for sharing, Bernard
robertosalguero (246) 2008-02-05 23:50
I think this picture could be a bit sharper, however I think is an excellent image. The main subject is very pretty. She has charisma in her eyes and the way she tilts her head to the right add a very feminine touch this image. You have capture a beautiful face with natural tones. Your note is short but informative. Thanks for sharing...I will be checking your gallery more often :-)
ating76 (45) 2008-05-21 22:02
Great colour balance and love the expression on her face. Its as if she is pleasantly surprised that you're taking her photo.

The great number of responses you received for this picture is in itself a testimony to the quality of this image. A really powerful one.

Hi Rabani, Very fine double portrait which has good skn tones and well cropped. The shawls over the hair look very good in this image. I just saw some of your Labuan photos also. TFS. Murray.
