Photographer’s Note
After a mostly working day, and with no time left to do much that day, I took a tip from a colleague and visited the market in the small town of Donggongon, just about a half hour cab ride away from KK. I was told that the people there were rather different, more laid back, than in KK, and how right he was! It was also the first town I'd been to in Malaysia where it was hard to find someone who spoke English.

Haha, fun title, Richard - these guys sure show a relaxed approach as to selling their fruits and produce. A nice and vividly colored view into this market, with a rather balanced exposure considering the strong contrasts between areas of light and shadow.

Hi richard.
Good capture of the very relexed banana salesman..
Top addition in the so called 'daily life' category. Well seen - fun presentation

Quite literally "laid back" it seems. A funny shot and a great title, Richard. Nice pov, colour and depth. Speaking of bananas they're so expensive here now ($9 or $10 per kilo) because of Cyclone Larry which hit the crops in Queensland earlier this year. I heard on the radio that some shops have signs saying "Bananas for sale. Finance available to approved customers" and "No bananas kept on premises overnight"... just a little of our strange Aussie humour.

Hi Richard,
A very well daily life picture, just a moment of pausing, good depth between the two desks, the man to righthand waiting on the future client.
Very well done!
Best regards,
John.

It's interesting to see how you handle one of these marker scenes, Richard. You have good light to play with (and no flash !) and I like the recession into the background and the rich colours. What makes it, of course, is that, totally typically relaxed pose of the banana seller.

Hi Richard, the natives of Sabah are laidback and peaceful. Quiet even with a complex. It didn't take long for the immigrants, either legally or otherwise, to catch them napping economically. And you must have had noticed the expression "bah" at the end of certain exclamative sentences.

Hallo Richard!
A funny and colorful picture with a lot of details! I think the bananas must be sold as soon as possible - see the brown spots ... ;-)
Thank you for showing this!
Greetings from Germany!

HAHAHA! I've just been photographing break dancers and this is so much like one of their 'cool' finishing postures - nicely caught Rick - fantastic shot of the guy and the context of such an empty market!

Hi Richard,
LOL for sure a fun and relaxed position, I appreciate here you combined it with a perspective of this nice and colorful market alley, a nice view. This reminds me one of my greatest Malaysian finding was the delicious fruit juices I could buy at nearly every street corner, and also I was impressed by their generally good english knowledge.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves
