Photographer’s Note
An afternoon small talk among these novice monks in Luang Prabang, Laos. When they saw me, they disintegrated...well, not until after I took this. It was funny why the other monks I photographed were extraordinarily friendly but these four were not. But I like this picture anyway...I hope you'll like it too.
I am posting accassionally now. However, I made a promise to myself that I have to post at least once a week. Before you know it, I will be doing it regularaly once again.

Hi Manny! Its nice to see your name on the board from time to time.
You handle the geometry of the image very well and I like the way you've framed the composition. The colors and lines are delightful. You've caught the young monks in relaxed poses, which makes the image even more refreshing. It does seem however, that the image is a bit soft. I know you use excellent equipment, so I trust this is the look you wish to convey. I might have been inclined to crop a bit tighter so the image of the monks would be larger and easier to read. Having said that, I understand how you could have chosen to include the layered roof, the angled power line, the cross-hatched railing and the bamboo rod holding the golden robe. Clearly we need a larger format for images such as this... ;-)

I like this a lot!
The composition and choice of cropping is perfect (as usual :)) and I am always amazed about how you get so nice, clean, well saturated and deep colours.
I like how their orange clothing stand out from the colourless background.
Great moment captured here, the monks just sitting around, talking, being like "ordinary" young people.
Very well seen.

Hi Manuel, nice to see you.
Apologize for the plagiate, Curtis, but my english..."the layered roof, the angled power line, the cross-hatched railing and the bamboo rod holding the golden robe - you handle the geometry of the image very well."
- The yellow/orange, opposite to the light nuanced monochrom background, repeating softly on it in the rust
- the proportionally, simlified repetition, given by the whole pic/dark brown vertical and the bamboo rod holding the golden robe/white vertical
- the repetition of the almost equal circles, formed by the bodies/ end of the hanged rod with the rust on the roof
Not sharp enough, intentioned or not - so what?
There are so many things to learn about in this one

Hi Manny, good to see a new posting from you. This is a very nice one, as in addition to the always sympathetic subject of novice monks, it also offers a lot of geometric interest from hte surroundings in which you captured them. At the same time the background is not distracting at all and the full attention of the viewer goes to the four. Very nice.

Very nicely seen grouping, I like the crop you've chosen here, with the length of verandah to the left. I must pick your brains about Laos, it's next on my list.

pleasing composition with pleasing colors, though a little sad that these four monks weren't pleasing or friendly..

A great composition, Manuel. The colour of the monks' robes really contrast beautifully against the otherwise 'white' background. Having read your note, I like how the second monk from the right seems to have spotted you. Well seen and captured.

I like the accurate position of the monks, the fence and the door. This looks almost like one of my industrial shot, but the monks make it different. Very good shot, Manny.

Les couleurs se trouvant ici sur le point fort de la photo donne de suite de l'attirance et ajoute de l'espace a la scène.
Bravo Manuel

I am happy you post something again.
Nice posting. I like the costumes color, and the moment of tranquility they had...till you appeared in scene...

A fine setup you got here Manuel - I like the mix of colours as well - the orange against the grey. I like it - a nice extra photo to your many great former shots.
And yes where in the same position - I also concider making one weekly post for a periode of time.

very nice color combination, multiple orange shades. the blankness of the roof and walls add to the idleness of the monks.
