Travelling by bus in northern Laos, had to stop for petrol. I especially liked the handpainted Shell sign.

Exellent work, Elaine. What a great "man at work shot". This is the most interesting Shell station I´ve ever seen. And one of the most interesting shots I´ve seen on TE. I´m really glad you took this great shot and posted it...
Great composition and framing. But I would rotate the image a bit CW.

A fine portrait at work. He is so concentrated on his work and the enviroment is very special. Nice old pump too.

What is most amazing is that petrol in this neck of the woods is dispensed from an inverted milk bottle via a piece of chemistry laboratory rubber tubing! Jeeze, try getting that past the European Health & Safety legislation! I bet you could almost get a photo of the same guy filling up with a cigarette hanging from his lips!! :-)
Regards & best wishes,

I think I was been in that place. It's name is Pakbeng, on the Mekong banks, Northern Laos. It is a beautiful, remote place, and my experience in Laos was so interesting! Thank you for remembering it!

This is a great photojournalistic shot. Multinational corporation meets the public in Laos.
The only place you see these types of pumps in America are on farms now, but around here they are just business as usual.
A good, colorful and thought provoking shot.

i was born in Laos but i didn't have a chance to travel around my country, so i always please to see another part of Laos on TE
this is nice picture but i like to give you an idea about the Lao sentence on above right angle, that's mean "NO SMOKING" :) nice picture

You are right, Elaine,
this is very interesting scene. This picture was deserved to capture. I think, the Shell's manager could be wonder with this logo. ))) Funny idea! Coming soon!
