Photographer’s Note
i imagine this will be an unpopular photograph on trekearth ... there's no bokeh, no motion blur, no pigeons or arrows. it's not black and white. it's not grainy ... but i like it.
while in luang prabang, i went to a waterfall that was out of town. it was a relatively famous and popular spot for tourists to visit.
i sat on a bench near the falls and a butterfly came and sat next to me.
in the midday sun, it was difficult to shoot him, but i made the most of the blue painted bench and tried to have some fun with it.
mostly, i like the colour coming through his wings and in his shadow.
my friend, the butterfly.

Hi David
Kind of abstract, with marvellous blue color & the butterfly well placed off centre. Congratulations!

Hi David,
I'm sure it will be very very popular.
The framing is perfect, i love this butterfly in the corner, with just enough light to emphasise the fantastic colors of its wings. The blue of the bench is awesome. really good shot.

Hi David,
remember, butterfly is much more better than a pigeon ;)
I love this picture in it´s simplicity, the butterfly looks to be afraid of blue colour :)
His wings are so magical, wonderful shot!

This has got every reason to be a popular image David, I think its a wonderful image. I really get a kick out of photos which make us look a bit longer to work out the scene and engage the mind, and this is what your photo does with me. A great artistic photo.

I think it should be popular. It has what is necessary to get the people to look at it: it looks really strong as a thumbnail. The compo itself is very nice. Nice positioning of the butterfly and a lot of attractive empty space . The butterfly's colors are very visible as well.

Hi David
What can I say about this photograph? It's your creativity which shows out here, abstract...the butterfly in the corner leaving so much space for the textured blue bench provides a strong graphic impact here. Wonderful
Regards
Angshu
PS : I think you're referring to Kwang Xi waterfalls..I've posted it couple of days back, you may just refresh your memory

Should have mention on my reply to you that this shot was the inspiration to post "Butterfly Love"
... and yet there is something about that grabs your attention and doesn't let you go... maybe is the positioning of the butterfly, maybe is the abstraction of all the elements and the only recognizible things are those wings... who konws, but I like it a lot... thanks for daring.... is always good.. cheers, mate,
Saludos,
Enrique

You have a beautiful butterfly. The light coming in through the wings is my favorite part too- it looks like glass windows. The shades of blue are so wonderful shining in the sun. I'm glad you decided to post this.

I like the way you framed this shot. Good colors with a real pop. Your eye is really drawn toward the butterfly. Good work.
