a temple in a village about 40 minutes outside of lp. it was their turn to do the dishes that day, and in fact they made the most of this despicable excercise. i guess everything's more fun when you have company (plus two white guys with big cameras :-)..) here's darren's photo of the guy in the back.

Very nice job on exposition here. The nuances in the dark parts are not lost, but yet the illuminated figures really stand out. The happy faces of those boys would have made every pic a good one, but the movement and the interaction between them makes this one a great pic.

Mark, the lighting in your photo is excellent. I also like the crop you chose. Very nice portrait of daily life. Well done! :)

Im happy to ee you posting on a more regular basis Mark. Good to see ex-SK photogs doing really good work in other places. Its too bad we couldnt meet up in Seoul.

Love the level of light here, a very moody photo with such rich tones and shadows.

What a fun photo of daily life. Those kids look like they are having a blast doing a show for you. The lighting is gorgeous. An instant classic!

Hahaha.

Wow, I like your shot so much better. Great lighting here, the front guy especially is really pleasing. I really like the angle/perspective you have used too, it is good you were able to include the second monk so effectively. The bowls are a little hot (same as in mine), I would guess a blended exposure from two different RAW conversions would be an answer here, but it is not something I really know how to do. Anyways, nice shot.

Hi Mark
Very very beautifull light. It's a nice picture for that, but also for the composition.
Well done

Hi Mark, Another superb shot! I very much like the happy faces while their doing dishes (I don't smile when doing them I'm afraid!). I guess they just have fun playing with water. I very much like the little windows you captured in the corner. You were surely restricted when it comes to light, but managed an appealing light after all. Excellent work! Sabine

beautiful picture colourfull and very well composed

Hey Mark, you got my vote as the most improved photographer of the month... you're uploading wonders many photographers would like to have recorded on their hard drive.

While I agree on Darren's diagnosis about hot plates, however I believe you may still have the potential in your RAW files to recover the glaring zones. No RAW piles, if you ask me, I think you shold only pull down your general brightness : a slight underexposure would be welcomed for the background, remember your excellent candlelit monks.

You got the correct timing for your shooting too, the center monk is on a move which makes the photo dynamic.

This is again another nice one indeed.. i liked the fun and the sponteneous mood of those two children..

deep orange is color which always very nice to shoot... but here i like the exposer.. a perfect one.. good work indeed..

I rarely ever say something like this because it's so often said without any real merit, but this is a photo I could expect to see while flipping through National Geographic. Your timing on this shot just captured a great moment that glimpses the joy and innocence of these two young boys in the midst of a mundane chore. It really gives the viewer an entry into their lives. On top of that, your exposure, the lighting, and the mood of the photo is fantastic. The soothing, muted colors behind the orange robe is a great contrast. I really love this photo.
