Photographer’s Note
After managing to extract myself from the painfully small minibus on the way from Udomxay to Luang Nam Tha I took a few shots of this little hut with the stunning clouds overhead.
It looked like a storm was coming and I certainly didn't want to be there when it hit.

HI Lewis,
I arrived Luang Nam Tha after 9 hours in the back of a pick up truck from the Thailand border :-) Then I understood why everybody else was going to Luang Prabang while I was the only one going to Luang Nam Tha :-)
Well - I really like this dramadic image - geat rich colours and good composition.
:-) Tina

Hola lewiz! una foto muy buena, me encanta los colores que tiene y sobre todo le contraste entre las nubes tan oscuras al fondo y la claridad de sol todavía iluminando el campo. Felicidades!

Lewis:
I don't know how can i missed this photo.
It's so beautiful and so close to my country Vietnam. When first opening it up, I thought you took this of Thua Luu Village, some 60 km South of Hue.
Thanks for your contribution.

Wonderful black clouds and magnific greens! An excellent work here, from a composition and a teechnique point of view.
I would have liked to see a foreground a little bit closer or a tradiational hat flying in the wind..., which would have accentuated the feeling that a "storm is coming" ;o)

Amazign light. yes it does look like a storm about to hit, doesnt it feel like someone is pulling a dark blanket over the sky it happens so fast.
Well composed and good use of the light. I can see that you are enjoying your D70.

really good lighting that enhance vivid colors, especially that unbelievable, almost edible, green color... I know what your feeling is, I've been in Laos in august (although not in Luang Namtha, which I woudl like to see) and when rainclouds are coming you know that even your bones will get soaked.
Perhaps you could have benefited from walking to the left side and getting more of the thatch hut as one of your anchoring points in the picture... I feel it is too minor in here and leaves a slight impression of emptyness.

Hello Lewis,
fantastic picture, the sky is so threatening here. thanks to this dark luminosity, it emphazises the colors of the grass, very contrasted.
Good jog

Great shot Lewis. Colours are lovely, the interplay between light and shade really makes the shot. The nearby hut gives it scale also. Well done!

Hi Lewis,
A scene I can never get over with. An expansive green padifield and a lonely sulap (hut) off center. Regardless of the cloudworks, a scene such as this, is always pulling. If you'd browsed my gallery, you would see something like yours but pretty closer and simpler.

Hey Lewis !
Impressive sky, and impressive landscape all together.. I am glad uou decided to put the small hut at classical 1/3 or 1/4 th and it balances the hill on the right. Good and striking shot. - Izzet Keribar

great capture- sure not easy to take a shot like this this as i would think the differences between the sky light and green grass are so big... did you use a grad filter or is it raw or maybe something else...
great atmosphere to it- well done..!
yours.

Hi Lewis,
very good photo, I liek the colours of the greenery due to the dark clouds in the sky, the clouds themdelves look scary and very powerful,
you took the photo from an interesting perspective with the small hut in the foreground, the composition is nicely divided into green and dark grey, it is also impressive!
I did not get to Luang Nam Tha myself when I visited Laos, but I hope to come back there again and visit the place then :)
greetings

Great atmosphere: wonderful combination of b-w and color. The stripe of light running through the center of the photo makes it very plastic (three-dimensional).

moody horizon look announcing that rain is imminent! the charm comes in full effect with the green/yellow foreground contrast. the POV is excellent and picturesque.

Lewis, I really like the sky in this shot. The fact that there is sort of a natural gradient to this shot is wonderful too! you show such great expertise in all of your shots! Wonderful!
