Photographer’s Note
Just over a narrow bamboo bridge in the little village of Vang Vieng in north central Laos lies acres and acres of ricefields. The backdrop is some of the most stark and impressive limestone karst mountains, as you see here.
Before the harvest these fields would be bright green. My visit there was after the harvest when the remaining shafts had died and turned yellow.
The hut serves as shelter from the blazing mid-day sun. The workers will gather there for lunch and a couple of hours of rest before resuming their work in the afternoon.

Hi Todd,
I like the dramatic landscape, and the many layers of interest that you have captured. The impressive mountains aren't too dominating due to the mist, and I like the inclusion of the hut in the midground. Nice subtle colours.

Ah,I have been here many times and everytime I go the scenery is different depending on the time of year.I have not seen these fields yellow however before they have been cut down. The colour is attractive when combined with the green of the uncultivated hills and mountains.Did you climb up that mount to see the view from height?I would be interested to see!
