Photographer’s Note
Si Phan Don (4000 islands) is located in the south of Laos, right near the Cambodian border. Most visitors to Laos never venture this far south but it is definitely worth the effort. Hundreds of islands are scattered in the middle of the Mekong River which is up to 15km wide in this section.
This is the island of Don Khong, it is a relaxing place with a small collection of bungalows hanging over the river. This place was $1 a night and the sunsets from the balcony were beautiful. During the day you can hire a bicycle and explore the island with its collection of small villages, rice paddies and monastries.

Very nice. I like the beautiful saturated colors. I'm not sure about the crop - personally I would prefer if it was "cleaner", but it looks good the way it is.

Hi Mark,
Very neat image of a relaxed evening. We have a song in Holland that starts with: put a candle in front of your window tonight etc.
I prefer the way you did it. The colour of the candles are so similar to the sunsetcolours. It's very balanced and relaxing to loot at. Thanks, Erik
