Not far up the Mekong from Luang Prabang is a village that specialises in making paper from the sa tree. It comes out like a coarser version of rice paper with much more texture. Sometimes they add leaves and flowers to the paper as well. You can watch them making the paper.
Beside the river were these couple of river boats, one you'll notice with a sattelite dish on the roof - all mod cons!
No golden colour to the river like the photo that I posted yesterday.

wonderful view of this Mekong river. The colorful boats are really special and the bamboo fencing is very graphical.
The landscape is special and pleasant.

Ciao dear Ian, how are you? :-)
Interesting and curious picture of these floating houses, but it is even more surprising to read and see that they have all the comforts of a home on the earth. Excellent photo quality, especially the good depth despite the slight haze. Congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice Thursday!

Hello Ian - Somehow I missed this post and I brings back really special memories of our visit to Laos. Actually it makes me want to pack a bag and go back! We took a 2 day slow-boat down the Mekong and this lovely view is oh so familiar. The large vessel complete with house looks like one of those that travel up river to China and the one in the FG is similar to the one we travel on. The misty BG is typical of the look when the mountains are shrouded in mist (or smoke!) and the FG garden is a wonderful reminder too. A shot I love. TFS warm regards Rosemary

It is nice shot of two boats anchored by a bank of Mekong river. Good catch with a hazy mountains in the background. The photo has nice composition, colors, light and sharpness.
Have a nice weekend,
