[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the late afternoon the river flowing past Vang Vieng, comes alive with local fishermen casting nets to see what they can catch. And the kids come down for their afternoon bath.
It is a difficult place to photograph, due to the fact that the sun is directly where the lens needs to be pointed. But it does make for some nicely backlit photos.
This was 5 years ago, and I have read that this town has been inundated by the travel industry, so may not be so peaceful now.
This was scanned from a regular negative, so the quality is not so good, and some major cropping had to be done.

Like the frame, the composition, the light but even more: the grain.
Not so good quality is one view; take it positive: say atmosphere.

good shot and a nice profile of activities. like the panoramic crop here.

Hi Kevin! I think the scene of the fishermen working together, throwing their nets is a golden moment to be captured in a photo. You got it here. I really didn't care much about daily life photos before, but when I joined TE, I learned a lot, and capturing daily life photos is one of my favorites now. This is still a very nice composition! rgds.

beautiful scene Kevin, i love the mood here, quiet and lush.. nice compo and colors, nice photo. Laos is waiting for me, i hope i can go there one day

Lovely capture, full of action and splendid background, smart choice pano was the way to go.
Though weak on processing this is terribly soft, deserves a better scanning.
Laos inundated with tourism... well, I hardly see anywhere in Laos like the Costa Brava, still a long way before it gets inundated.

Hello Kevin

i like a lot the atmosphere
of this picture, and also your
composition here

The light is heaven sent. The net mid air. I envy you this photo!

Nice panoramic view and back drop Kevin. You caught the net nicely. I find this picture very relaxing..

A lovely scene here Kevin. Capturing the net as it fell is a bonus. Good compo and colours. TFS.

What's wrong with the Costa? Lovely place...full of English people seeking English breakfasts...

Big trouble with tourism - we go further and further seelking the untouched, and the moment we arrive, it's touched...

Beautiful scene of traditional fishing, cheer. The a little panoramic realignment is well seen and gives more punch to the gesture of launching net.
Well done

Belle scène de pêche traditionnelle, bravo.
Le recadrage un peu panoramique est bien vu et donne plus de punch au geste de lancer du filet.
Bien vu

Philippe
