Photographer's Note
A view of a slow flowing and calmer side of the Mekong River, in the dry season, starting from November to March, by the end of the dry season February, the water can be very low, exposing some patches of islands on the river. You can almost walk across the river in some area. During sunset, the light illuminated in the reflection can be magical as we watch the locals coming home from fishing, children taking bath in the river.

Hi Way,
The Mekong has always been one of my favorite rivers as it makes it's way and journeys through so many countries and benefiting so many. And it is amazing like many rivers how it's character changes along it's course, and as you say depending on the seasons too. So peaceful and clam in this image as it sprawls out widely reflecting the beautiful pastel glow of the sunset. I like the tiny silhouettes if the people as they go about their activities at the end of the day. Nice.

Hello Way,
In spite of all the marvellous views from the US and South America you have shown here, the most emotional pictures always seem to come from the country of your childhood. These colors are spectacular, but it's mainly the silhouettes of the people taking care of their nets and their boats at the end of the day that give this photo such a strong and nostalgic atmosphere.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Way,

Hi Way,
the fisherman in fg and its glare near its boat strike me particularly. I do not know why, but its loneliness moves me, even if there are other persons behind him. the photo altogether is an light and delicate song on the serenity, on the vanishing of the day and perhaps on vanishing of every thing. wonderful pic.
ciao, have a nice evening

hi Way,
I think I will be less poetic than you if I say my Mekong was grey/brown...but I travelled on it from Phnon Penh down to Can Tho.....
I don't think that part has the same great magic you can experience in Luang Prabang (that I have to visit at all costs one day....)
or maybe I was in the wrong "pov" to capture this nuances.....

Hello Way,
your shots usually offer stunning landscapes in clear visibility, so I am surprised with this picture, that suppresses the details and lets the colour dominate creating very poetic impression and dream like atmosphere. It took my breath out by its beauty... my fingers feel eager to take the pastels and start drawing ... if you do not mind stealing the motive. (?)
Bravo

Hi Way, this shot is like a dream. It is so nostalgic, full of tranquillity and things of the past. I love the way you've composed the shot with all that space to the right. The dusky pastel tones are superb and the reflections make the shot for me. Great job! I had lunch today with some fellower TE'ers PHWall and Burraburra - and thought of you as the food was wonderful and we ate too much. Wish you'd been there :) Have a great day, Lisa

A picture like a painting with excellent pastel hues. The water level seems to be very low, because I think I know where you took this shot from, yet the boats and the men look so deep down! Excellent colours as the sky reflects in the water and love the silvery sheen on the water in the BG. Beautiful...I feel nostalgic as well about LP

Good idea to give the main room to the water and keep the shore with boats and the people almost as silhouettes
Well done

I had great time in Luang Prabang. Mekong is spectacular during sunset, I've seen it from different places. But this easily beat the image I've seen, the colors on the water is so poetic.. calm and serene. The tiny silhouette gave a great composition on this picture with part of the land included..
I told my friends about Laos, Life time is not enough to visit Laos... you must be proud for where you come from :-)

Hi Way!
I comment this last picture from you, not because I am lazy to browse you gallery that I have not visited for long time, being away for more than one month; but because I really find it beautiful. Outstanding. The composition is perfect; stylish. The delicate hues give to the scene a great softness and instills in it a lot of romantism. That's a great job. I see with pleasure a scene from Luangprabang again; even if it fills my heart with nostalgia.
Congratulations!

Hi Way,
very attractive composition. I like the diagonal alignment of the beach in the frame and the interesting silhouettes. I am curious if the noise filtration would smooth it out. Although then you may loose the details of the texture as well.

Thanks for your comments on my most recent photograph: after listening to you and AKITA I have gone back and updated the notes a little to clarify some things. In retrospect, the English would send me to Pseuds' Corner for that note - the last time I do TE notes after a second gin-and-tonic ;).
