Can't find any other title, sometimes less is better, I'll make it short.

Ain't it easy to give?

...perhaps more difficult to give day after day...and certainly harder to give to everyone.

------------------------

I really had one of my favorites of Manny's in mind for this one.
Mixed with my own taste for narrow DoF and other kinds of geometry.

The colors here are great Luko, that is the first thing I notice. Surprising in a way that it is consumer grade film that gives such great color. Nice diagonal line created by the receding monks and effective use of DOF too. Those are two things I like as well. I think the idea of receiving alms in a photograph is not entirely original (what is left that truly is original?), but this works, in part because of the angles and colors, but also because of the length of the alms line. I also think it is unique that the people seem to have sat down explicitly to give alms to the monks. REminds me of a receiving line in a wedding. I don't mind the tight cropping at all, although I do with the second guy wasn't cut right through his eyes.

This would be even better had it been taken with a 20D. ;)

I like the angle of the shot, the color and the giving act showed here. i just prefer to have focus on the 1st lady and not cropping lots of the head but that just me, your composition is still good....rgds

Hi Luko! I like the colors and angle in which you took this shot! It's my 1st time to see a scene like this, so I must say it's a very interesting activity, seems everybody here is a cheerful giver. I would have like to see more of the monks' heads though. Great shot of a daily life activity! rgds. Alford

Nicely done - thanks for posting!

Great shot, superb DOF and you have focussed on just the right spot and picked the perfect moment as the woman's hand reaches up to the basket. As an alternative title how about 'take'?

Wow ! Very beautiful colors and DOF.
I like the composition, the cut heads don't disturb me.

Merci.
Alexandre

The image is also a wonderful counterpoint to your shot taken over the shoulder of a line of monks. Perhaps they were taken on the same day. I appreciate the narrow DoF in this capture since it is less the grand act of giving than the specific act, one human being to another that lies at the heart of this ritualized exchange. Although I'm familiar with the practice, I've never been to the region, so it has been wonderful to see so many photos taken of the ceremony, including the fine series you've given us. The colors are quite stunning. Thanks Luko.

Very interesting moment. Great colours and DOF. I like also the bend of three arms in one direction.

hi luko
very nice colours indeed
talking about manny i like the photograph of the feet of the monks in a line
well to be honest it is quite strange seeing a photograph form you taken using a telephoto lens :)
i've always associated you with wide angle and great depth of field.
but this one is really good, just something different .
i think your title is good
im just a little suprised that superia has given you such a great orange
take care :)

Nice image. Great colors and nice composition. Like the POV and use of DOF.
Well captured.

Luko

Great colours and a nice DoF, well composed.

michel.

very very nice photo, all heads are nicely cropped, nice effect of shallow DOF, great moment with the hand in the bowl. nice work, i like the way it is.

beautiful moment, very nice capture Luko. I love it very much. the angle, the orange colors, the submission, wonderful picture.

sorry but the cropped heads bother me too, especially that of the second monk who is in focus but you can't even see his eyes! maybe there's an intended symbolism in this that i don't get(?). i'd also have liked a hand putting money in his basket thus emphasising your title (just my eternal quest for perfection :-)) for me the focus on the third monk would have worked better. i love the colors though, the composition, and (like in all your shots) your EXCELLENT use of dof. tfs.

great pic, seriality,colors, meaning..
