No electricity = no playstation
I watched this boy playing with the tyre and he seemed to be very happy and then he came in front of my lens.
In the background you can see peanuts for drying.
Photo is taken in the village "Ban Khienk Tangle" close to Tad Lo.
There is no electricity in the village but many people have a mobile phone. In the evening the locals bring them to Tad Lo to charge them overnight.

Hi Leo,
I wish the world lost all its technology in a single day...
The damn technology that makes us know everything and push us into the deepest depression, the damn technology that exhausts the nature and prepares the end of who grew it up to now.
Once, my dad was telling about his childhood, and that, his toys were somethings like that. Day by day, we become artificial, and i feel pity for being a part of this artificial generation.
Your photo is a very nice documentary for making me think about all these...
Cheers,
Deniz

Hi Andreas,

A title that gives many thoughts of the worldly life...
Superb catch.
In my childhood, this Tyre was the dear sport.... and our plays..
EXCELLENT.

Hi,Leo,

Hallo Andreas,

Hi Leo!!!

Your picture resumes perfectly why I like to travel to the "so called third world". There you can find the real and simple life that we are losing in the also "so called first world".
Thanks for sharing.

Best Regards
Víctor

great reportage shot.
your comments should be memorized by our youngs.
congratulations

Hallo Andreas.

Hello Leo,
very nice shot that makes me think of my pupils clicking their game players and mobiles all the time. I would like to see the world as simple as in your picture, the virtual reality is for kids at my school sometimes more important than the real life.
Best regards
Romana

Hallo Andreas,
Only the title is already worth 2 points. You are so right, here in the west we are all spoiled on what we see on tv and take anything like it should be like that. On my trip to Peru i had no electricity for a few days, i felt completly lost...what a strange feeling.
Your picture shows good, no bike, only an old wheel to play with.
Very good work, i like this deep inside work.
Regards, Henk

hi alndreas
A nice, spontaneous shot with documentary value,
no need electronic games to play, the imagination is the best power to invent new distractions.

Hi Leo
With no electricity or wiring I suppose that a mobile phone is an important lifeline rather than a fashion accessory as is often the case here! What a charming portrait of this child in his home surroundings. The compo is excellent and includes so many details telling us about his home and daily life.

bonsoir Leo, une très belle photo prise dans un petit village loin de toute modernité comme encore en Roumanie actuellement.. pneumatic for game, simple and happy children.

Hi Andreas,
A well composed daily life shot here. Excellent point of interest and your note explains it well. I like the range of colors, good contrasts, and excellent details and sharpness. TFS. Gerald

What a great title and photo. I am sure they do not have obesity problems amongst the youngest.
It is a beautiful picture, with excellent colours, light and sharpness. The sky is wonderful.

Hallo Andreas,
Playstation?
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hello Andreas.
Very fine shot of a documentary nature, showing the simple playthings enjoyed in a society not dominated by consumerism. I look around and I think the next generation will be wired-up dullards.
Anyway, back to the photo, which shows the boy nicely placed in the corner of the shot, and interesting daily life stuff behind. The quality of the photo is very good. I like your title and note, too!
Regards,
Andrew

Hallo Andreas,
Well as long as you don't know about it you don't have to care for playstation, right ?
Nice framing showing the little boy with his simple toy and widened in the background to show some of the village environment, a good documentation of the place with good techs.
Have a nice day JY

A most beautiful 'daily life' image! This little boy is so sweet with his toy in hand. I would just love to hug him :) The colors and detail are awesome. Added to my favorites. Thank you! Have a great day!

Hi Andreas,

Hi Leo,
A life without playstation, for my kids a secere punishment. This looks quite idyllic though under the great blue sky.

hello Andreas
this is a nice photo very instructive about the country life in Laos! This is very well framed and the colours are superb! The title and the note ask for a very philosophical question :is it better with or without electricity, with or without technology?difficult to say just in a few lines what I am thinking!Sometimes I would really like to leave my life and to be closer to the nature, and to be far for this artificial life! And sometimes I like it! Anyway, during my trips,I like to stay a few days with these people, and forget the phone, the computer, the car,the TV....but never my camera!
Regards.
Pascale

excellent pictureque composition,
great light conditions, and framing

ironic isnt it... the cell phones are everywhere... i am sure children away from play station are more happier... but as long as they have good health condition and education... all the best leo...

Hi Andrea,
My most magnificent memories of the childhood are the ones of the space and the freedom and not the toys which I could have. I think that now, if children play with playstation, it is because we cannot let them any more discover the world. They have to remain locked for safety reasons. In this photo, I like seeing the immense playground which this child has for him.

Hallo Andreas
Was ist ein Playstation ???? ;o)
Ist-es etwas zu essen ??? ;o)
Diese bild ist sehr schone.
Schönes abend
Christophe

Hi, Leo. The mittle boy stands proudly in front of the camera showing his tyre. I think he enjoys himself with it more than our spoilt kids with their Playstation. Fun comes from imagination andyou cna imagine lots of things playing with a tyre. The composition is interesting with the boy in the right corner and a view of the village in the background. The penauts left for drying are an interesting detail and the nice sky a good backdrop.
Have a nice evening,
Philippe

Really? My grandmother was really amazed to see a mobile phone in my hands when I was visiting her :)
I wish his simple and pure happiness for me too,and I am sure he will miss these days of childhood
More,I like to see real life in the village
Thank you,my favorite

Hi Andreas,

Hi Leo,
this is a great daily life picture. I like the composition, the colour of the sky. Child holding a tyre, standing in front of his village, is a very interesting subject. Well done!
Cheers
Michal

Hi Andreas,
I love your title... such a perfect choice for this photo. The kid with his tyre is really cute and well placed in your compo and the DOF allows for a very good view of the environment he lives in. I think we should show these kinds of photos to western kids more often....
Cheers
Bibi

Ow, it brings back memories of Africa...
Very approporiate title, and especially important note about the mobile phones needing a charge in the next village.
It reminds me that even in our absurdly consumerist societies when you buy a big present to a kid he'll probably have more fun with the box.

Bonjour Andreas,
Regards.
Daniel.

Thank you Andreas fot the message in the title of your picture! Excellent captured moment and unadulterated scene of the daily life in this poor region.
Best regards
Silvia

Hello Leo,
Exactly, children without playing video games seem happy and as lively.
This photo has the basis of his livelihood in the background, and everyone's favorite white clouds floating in the blue sky. Wonderful shot that appropriates to the TE's mission.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Hi Andreas,

Beautiful picture. The cute kid so well showed in his enviroment. The background has great deph and the blue sky is the perfect deco for this little kid. He looks like a determined kid, not timid as he looked so assured to you.

Regards,

Flavia

Hi Leo,
I decided to come on this photo in your gallery because the title was surprising... I don't regret it : your note and your photo are very interesting, full of details.
Well done and TFS.
Regards,
Marianne

Nice one, I think that i would be nicer to have the kid right in the middle of the bottom frame, the warm colors are nice as well...

Interesting to read your description of the place, it's true that this boy seems very happy in this environment, I wonder what's the reaction of the bigger kids if they have had the chance to go to secondary school and have therefore seen a place a bit bigger and more advanced, technology wise...
Great reportage,
TFS,
Cath.
