Why We Call Them Water Buffalo
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Even water buffalo love a good swim or play in the water in the afternoon. The locals will take them down the river for a good soaking and some time where the water is shallow they will leave them unattended. They eat the algae in the stream or river (See workshop for photo) Water buffalo are use for farming in the rice field mainly to plow the soil before planting. They are also a source for meat, unfortunately. |

Very nice catch with beautiful light. I love the attitude of the 2 children with their buffaloes.
Way, this one needs more praise, sure the left buffalo is partially included, but given the frame dimensions, the compo can't be further improved, also nice detail of the algae and the hairy textures in WS.
I avoided buffalo meat in Sumatra (where it's very popular), but I may have eaten it in Java. I had "beef rendang" in Yogyakarta, this very spicy dish, made with coconut milk, originates from Padang, Sumatra, where it is usually made with water buffalo. I asked if it was beef, the waitress said "yes", but sometimes they say "yes" to everything! It tasted just like normal beef, with same textures, does buffalo meat have a different taste?
Interesting exlpanation, and very nice, clear image.
Too bad the leftmost buffalo is cropped, perhaps a further POV would have been better.
I'll try a re-cropping workshop to portrait orientation in case it turns out good ;)
