Photographer's Note

As many of you will, I'm fascinated by transportation systems around the world, particularly trains and boats. So I was pleased to discovery a healthy shipping trade going on along the Mekong, even as far upstream North West Thailand. I particularly like these classic Mekong Cargo boats, which I hope remain in service once all the extensive road building between Thailand and China across the country is complete.

Hi Richard,

Excellent photo, pak Ou as I remember it. Chocolate water of Mekong, high rocky wall, lush vegetation and this old style boat. I went by slow boat from Thailand to Luang Prabang, nice to refresh memory. Thanks for sharong
