[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Bun Awk Phansa, on the day of the full moon, celebrates the end of the three-month rains retreat . Monks are at last permitted to leave the temple and are presented with robes, alms bowls. One particularly beautiful aspect is Lai Hua Fai. On the eve of Awk Phansa people gather at the confluence of the Mekong River and Nam Khan to release dozens of small banana-leaf boats decorated with candles, incense and small flowers, in a celebration similar to the Thai Loy Krathong.

During the days preceeding the eve of Awk Phansa, the monks prepare the beautiful decorated boats in the monasteries.
In the daytime all the monks and novices get a close shave.
On the fullmoon night all people gather at Wat Xieng Thong and the boats are brought to the river in an impressive candlelight procession.

excellent photo, Marc, it perfectly illustrates your note, but I also find it very personal, almost intimate. it's a simple photo in a sense that there's nothing in it that does not contribute to the story, while the composition you've chosen immediately focuses the viewers attention on the main subject. technically perfect shot, love the vivid colours. my compliments, this is truly a great work.
