Photographer’s Note
A woman holds a candle and flowers during the annual Lao New Year celebration at Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham in Luang Prabang,Laos.
Wat Mai Suwannaphumahamouvanna Phommaram, or Wat Mai (The New Monastery), is one of the largest, most picturesque and most photographed of the wats of Luang Prabang. Located along the popular night market street of Sisavangvong and adjoining the compound of the National Palace Museum, it is important for both its religious and its aesthetic beauty.
During Pimai, the mid-April Laotian New Year, the Prabang is ceremoniously brought from the museum to a temporary pavilion in front of the sim; for three days there is ceremonial washing of the image and opportunity for the faithful to pay homage.

Beutiful. I think you got thisscene from the most perfect POV at that very moment. Awesome light, perfect exposure, fuzzy faces in the background are so great. All my congratulations for this awesome shot. Right in my favorite.

Hi John,
This is simply one of the best shots I have seen inside Wats/monasteries. Superb light management. Beautiful use of the shallow DOF to bring out the subject.

Hola John:

The light, the harmony of the colors tones, serve the serenity of the place. The small bunch of plumeria flowers radiates, and sweetly exalts this vision of devotion. Good depth Of field. Congratulations. Marine

Hi JB!
Great moment you have captured there my friend. Technically the picture is perfect, but that's not what matters in this particular one. What really matters is this beautiful atmoshere it transmits. Congratulations!

John,
I think you fairly nailed this one my friend. It is very well shot and captivating to look at. From time to time I forget this is a travel photo website as I concentrate on trying clever street stuff or developing this skill or that...but this is the kind of shot that makes one want to travel to far away places and that is what it's all about really.
Keep em coming
Cheers
