Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken in the same Lanten village as several of my other posts from Laos. I have trouble remembering how far this village was from Luang Nam Tha, i think only about half an hour to an hour away. The drive that day was beautiful but long--8 or 9 hours in a very bumpy van. Driving through the countryside in this part of Laos is an amazing experience, though. The road is sometimes full of pigs, chickens and people and sometimes it is deserted and peaceful. There is a lot of truth in the joke that PDR Laos (Peoples Democratic Republic of Laos) really stands for "Please Don't Rush".

I like this compo Emily. It seems as if the three children are in fact one single person in three different phases of a movement in slow motion. Not only the position of their bodies, but also their eyes seem to represent someone lifting his eyes from the ground (in the background) and gently turning, to end up looking straight at the photographer.

Hi Emily,
very nice sepia picture, I like the way the little girls face appears slowly. The picture has a nice luminosity which lighting their lovely faces.

Very nice picture, the thumbnail wanted to be open!

I especially like the strong contrast giving so much attention on their faces and attitudes, especially the eyes of the middle child and, as Gal already said, the last little one, a bit shy and hiding behind the others. The biggest one has got more confidence and frankly looks at the camera.

Nice...looks very natural with that little girl at the back. Nice color tones though the face is a bit overexposed.

A nice composition with a good framing, nice position and expresion of the 3 kids and good light.
