Photographer’s Note
This woman, from a Lanten village near Luang Nam Tha, was very meek until she stared into the camera lens with this fierce gaze.

excellent DOF. I like the imposing look from the mother and the way they carry their children is very interesting even the guy at the back is carrying one. the backgroud is also nice by including their home. very good composition....rgds

An excellent portrait. I like the expression that you caught. Sharpness is a little soft. Is this a scanned image ??

Hi again, Emily,
I don't think sharpness is off, it's there in the eye reflection, and the neck-adornment , some lack of detail probably more due to size limits of this site.
I like her looks. Lanten women aren't meek at all, they are very strong, and although Lanten people have a strict gender role code, the women more then stand up for themselves.
i also like the background, the slightly out of focus man, apparently also carrying a child. I love the way in Laos man as well as boys carry little children as often as the women and girls do. these children have such a good secure start to their lives in terms of being wanted and loved.
