A very good portrait of this tipycal woman. A very representative of day life of this village, because you show us the woman carrying this bag on her back like I suppose they use to do. I love colors and textures on the woman face, that is very expressive. You have composed it very well. Congratulations for this nice work and excuse me for my poor english. Regards from Spain.

Very unique face! You managed very well the strong light here. The quality of the picture is amazing so sharp on the woman and her backpack. Very well done.

The woman is from a Lanten village (Lantien, Lantan?), which is a subgroup of the Yao. You will notice her eyebrows and the forward part of her hair has been pulled out, traditional way of the Lanten. The non traditional flowered cloth (probably Thai or Chinese inport) hides her traditional indigo colored dress, with pink tressles. That is made of home grown cotton, spun and woven in the village, then dyed in indigo grown on the hills outside the village. lanten is one of the few subgroups that at present still consistently wear traditional dress, at least the women do. There are only about 30,000 lanten people living in Laos.
