[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
About the quality of the photo : I know this is a terrible scan (from the print of an old slide - worked on it months ago and tried to correct minute details locally this morning - will never be entirely satisfied).
I have a question too : please, have a look too at the WS that I added today to
a previous photo of the same lake : before re-posting it, I'd like to know if you see something that could be changed on that one !

About the subject : for a change, a landscape that is close to my heart : lake Song Kol is a little gem, part of a natural park but populated in the summer by semi-nomad villagers who come with their herds to graze along the lake. Not a single building around, except for an old small shack for fishermen, otherwise only "yurts" around there.

At above 3500m high, it is desolated after mid Oct. as I could see another year.
Edelweiss (FG on the left)grow there in quantities, that same morning we met an "edelweiss eater" who was forcing his sheep into the terribly cold water (photo another day)...

Philippe

A simple and unpretentious shot from a location close to your heart. Nice and warm colours (and a touch of frost) juxtaposed to the cold mountains. Best, TW

I love your globe hopping ways...one day in Andhra, at another in another part of the world!!! This image however is astounding and spellbinding with its colours and textures. Very well composed.

Hi Cath,
Ah ha! A nature shot from you! that too something that is close to your heart. I appreciate that a lot. Nice work Cath!
Regards,
Shaeri
PS: regarding your earlier question, no I am not from the mountains, instead from a city called Calcutta, now named Kolkata!

It's not often we see landscapes from you and it makes a pleasant change. Scans are always problematic, but there is more than one reason for posting an image as you know. There is a big contrast between the tranquil background of the lake and mountains and the foreground with high light/shade contrast. I have done a WS on your WS. Let me know what you think.
Kath

Hi dear Cath,
Very nice scene, captured with perfect timing. Very nice sensitive colors and good pov. A good sample for "oldies but goodies" .
TFS and best regards

Bonsoir Catherine,

Alberto

Hi Catherine,
there is a big quietness in your picture, with soft tones and colors.
I like it too much.
Ciao

Chere Catherine,

Branko

A nice landscape shot from you - with pastel like colors. Great sun light on the foreground rocks. Well framed, too.
Cheers
Dave

Salut Catherine

Marvellous reflections with superb colour contrasts between the yellow tussock grass & blue sky & water. Good backlighting. Tfs! C'est tres bon!

Beautiful light on the foreground contrasts well with the pastel tones of the sky and water. A very well-composed image, Catherine!
