Silkroad travel: Kyrgyzstan, Aug. 21, 2007
The last hundred meters in Kyrgyzstan! We cyclists have the privilege of overtaking all waiting trucks at the Chinese border in Simhana (2'790 m sal.). The picture may mean little to you but it does much to us: we made it to China! We also made it to a series of stores offering all a cyclist needs: fruit, bread, sweets, and mineral water.
The inward trucks to the left bring ore to China, the outward going trucks carry bales of fabric. There are also lots of new cars and trucks leaving China: its Silkroad "pur et dur".
The picture was taken by Herman, showing the Australian Martin. Three of us were already busy entering the customs building. |

Hi Dietrich!
Interesting also this picture!!
Before you described wide spaces... and now a narrow alley closed by trucks!
Just a border view.
Trucks are differnt from ours, full of many packs of stuff.
Thank you for sharing!
Livia
Great photo, with the cyclist between all the huge trucks and the fascinating glimpse of the mountain behind.
