(UPDATE : I just added another, earlier and better scan of the same photo : YOU CAN SEE THE OTHER VERSION IN THE WS - I really need to learn more about all those technical matters !
Thanks to the ones who have written advice here...)
************

Need to take a short break from the places I am revisiting in India and Bangladesh : apart of the 24h boat trips in Bangladesh done repeatedly, all the other places seem even more noisy (and hence, very hard for me) with the distance - difficult to express this, I'll try to change the text later.

But here I need your help, because I am not satisfied with those lines, which are not on my paper photo. Or is it simply that my small scanning machine is not up to the job ? Many thanks in advance for your advice...

Song Kol : a tiny, very high altitude lake (around 3500m - I'll also check the exact altitude later), now a natural reserve ; in the summer, the villagers living below are leaving their houses for the season and bring their herd to graze on the shores, setting up their yurts (it has another name in Kyrgyz, I don't remember).

The place is magnificent, I first saw it with friends in Nov. 1996 under the snow when it was hard to remain standing because of the fierce freezing gales - but still, an impressive, very special place -, and returned back with a friend earlier in the year 2002, when we stayed for a couple of days in one of the yurts seen here in the far. Deliciously silent, peaceful splendid ; the few people we encountered there were also extremely friendly.

Hi Catherine Douxchamps

What a nice landscapes, excellent compostion, lights and so attracting colours there. The clouds, mountains, river and brown land is so good, i always like this type of palces, really i love it. And regarding this picture, those lines can be remove, there is a filter in Photoshop but i don't remind now but i will find and tell u, i also done a little workshop picture on this to give some romantic or dream effect.

kind regards

rajiv

* Soory for points, i m out of the points now.

Bonjour Catherine,

Louis

Hi Catherine,
I love the photo despite those lines. It must be because of the paper quality and when you scanned it, it appeared on the photo. This is my guess! I don't know how to get rid of them, but there must be a way. Maybe you could try filters section and choose a smooth surface. Anyway, the saturated colours, polarized clouds and your compo are very good. Congrats.

Catherine: not sure if I can help you here, as it seems like the 'banding' is a result of your scan. I'm not sure if there's a way to correct this without significant damage to the image. best, c

Hi Cath,

you really have no borders!
Despite of the technical matters I like this image. It seems to be a great work, I have faith in the original one :). I never had problems like that in the scanner, maybe it's something in the scan settings.

Keep posting!

Giorgio

Hello Cath
Indeed magnificent place, beautiful light, colours and reflection in the water. It`s a pity about these lines, but if I close one eye and turn a little the open one - I don`t see them ;).
