Photographer's Note
Taken at about 3,800m in the range immediately to the south of Lake Issyk-Kul. The Chinese border is probably 60-80 km away in the distance. Kyrgyzstan is often called the Switzerland of central Asia as it is as mountainous as Switzerland - probably more so.
Nearly 95% of the country is mountainous: almost half of it at an elevation of over 3000m (9840ft) and three-quarters of it under permanent snow and glaciers.
This picture was taken in the height of summer.

Very nice picture. I like the composition of the image. The place looks serene. I was tempted to try a workshop. Hope you will like it.

Very very nice. This is a dream place for trekkers. The contrast of the so green grass and snow is amazing, and I just saw it was shot in July.

Probably almost unlike anywhere on earth. Very lunar to my eye. I find the complete emptiness very appealing visually. Nicely captured.

very beautiful landscape, good capture of vast and scapcious area. i tied a workhsop as well to enhance the contrast and colours and added a bold frame again for the same reason.

Great nature shot. It looks so desolate and yet beautiful. I really like the subdued colors. They add to the desolate feel. And this is another one of those places where scale is hard to determine because nothing exists to judge by. Like that mountain could be a rise a few hundred meters away or a mountain kilometers away. I really like that feel and you did a very good job capturing it.

What a great shot. You can really feel the emptiness of this place. You've done well to save more than half of the picture for the foreground. Without this space, the feeling of desolation would be much less.

Quel beau jeu optique! À première vue, on croirait que ce sont de petites colines, mais la présence d'un glacier donne la véritable échelle de la scène. Merci pour la visite!

Beautiful scene with good framing. A little more contrast would be nice. Anyway, this is very nice shot.

I like how teh foreground clearly shows what it would be like to be there on foo. A lot of mountain shots miss a real sense of the scale from our viewpoint. Beauitiful.
