Photographer’s Note
The picture was taken in Osh on 31 August, Kyrgyzstan's Day of Independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
It's a very symbolic photo because during the Soviet times Kyrgyz (at least in cities) were not allowed to wear traditional costumes.
Now we have independence, democracy, traditions and Lenin, big and still. The man is wearing a Kyrgyz hat called "kalpak".
The capital's Lenin has been removed recently from its central place.

Nice one. I took some pictures from Mr Mao, in China. They always joke that he is holding his hand up to stop a taxi. These statues keep reminding us of the past.

I like your perspectiv on the statue. I think the people standing below the statue either need to be more into the shot, or out of it completely.
Great colours and shadows on the statue though!
