Silkroad travels: Tajikistan

On top of the Irkestam pass (3'536 m asl.) and a few hours before the Chinese border , my cyclist friend Blaise (left) checks on his bike. Herman is in the middle. The picture was taken by Martin. The mountains in the back are part of the Trans Alay chain. The Silk road has seen a rapidly increasing traffic here because Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazachstan have opened their borders to China, practically closed during Soviet times.

Hallo Dieter!

LG Christian

Again amazing picture ! This is my "ideal" landscape. Desert, sun and mountains with snow, and no trees. I'm really fascinated by this land.

Bonjour,

Hi Dietrich,
That's a very special place. There seems to be no living being in this place! And you, you were riding on your bicycle through these mountains;-)
Cheers
Marc

What a fantastic landscape. It must be a treat to be there on a bike! Not easy that's for sure but what a great feeling is must be. Love the mountains in the back the feeling of being lost in immensity.

Fantastic!
