Silkroad travels: Kyrgyzstan

A cyclist's dream, the Kyzyl-suu valley! Herman Veldhuizen is under way in the direction of the Irkestam pass, the border to China. We are at 3'510 m altitude. In the background to the left is pik Kurumdy (6'613 m asl.)

As for the "dream": the road is nonexistent at this place, a series of parallel sandy tracks must do. The picture was not taken by me but by Blaise Fracheboud, another cyclist- colleague. And I was travelling in a truck, sick for the day! But despite all this harsh-reality-stuff, the day was wonderful, unforgettable.

In the workshop section I add a picture for Stefano of a broken front wheel

Frank

What a great perspective! I love it! Regards.

All the essence of a great trip in a single picture.
A fantastic view. This place always actracted my interest and fascinates me a lot.
I wish I was that bike rider !
How many flat tyres did you score ?
Regards Stefano

Hi Dietrich,
This is absolutely stunning capture with these incredibly beautiful snow capped mountain peaks and the cyclist adding a possible scale to this grandeur. I am sure it must have been one hell of a fascinating journey and so here’s wishing you folks much more such journeys in years to come.

I am speechless on that picture.Simply simply simply wonderful view.

Hallo Dietrich!
Andreas
