Photographer’s Note
Stopping and filling the car's engine radiator water tank with water from the glaciers' melting ice, on our way from Sary-Tash (Kyrgyzstan) to Kashgar (Xinjiang, PRC) through Irkestam Pass (road A371).
Car is a Moskvich, altitude is around 3300m ASL, background is Peak Lenin at 7134m and the Alay Range.
We had to stop and refill 5-6 times in 80km !

PierreLouis, great to see a pic from this part of the world. What is wrong with the car? I hope it was fixed quickly. In my experience these drivers fix their vehicles very quickly because they have so much experience of them going wrong :-) I didn't go this way myself (I went further north via Yining). Looks like I missed out on some wonderful scenery. Thanks for posting.

a scene from a movie? strange, but interesting shot. just a holiday snap, but it holds.

a nice picture with beautiful glaciers in the background. i did the same road last year hitch-hiking with a truck. the open bonnet is a thing you can see everywhere in Kyrgyzstan along the roads.
