Kyrgyz Girl Making Carpet
A photograph from a museum in Bishkek which shows the mannequin of a Kyrgyz young girl weaving a traditional Kyrgyz style carpet.
Carpet-making, manufacturing of various types of pattern felts, decorated mats and pattern weaving are the most popular types of applied arts of Kyrgyz people.
Kyrgyz people living in Pamir Alai region and Ferghana, as well as the Kyrgyz people living in the southwest part of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous region of China have been dealing with manufacturing of woolen fleecy items since remote times.
Carpet-making was developed much earlier mainly by the pchkilik group of tribes, but it was very well known to the rest of the Kyrgyz people in the south.
