[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Japanese tea ceremony is an event that any visitor to Japan should try out once. The grace of the host is awe-inspiring. The tea is quite different from the usual stuff, it is more a pasty green blend that you will either like it or hate it.

Appealing and full of charm picture, Thien. I had this in Osaka (world expo '70) and I hated that pasty green tea (and the sort of cakes going with). The concerned and serious expressions are exactly those I still have in mind. The background fence is distracting IMO.

very interesting and nicelly done composition Thien, like all your shots it makes you feel like you are there and for sure wants you to be there.very well done!

Occasionally a shot comes along that for me, is really special, this falls into that catagory, not because of the tea drinking ceremony, which is a delight, but because it's a snapshot of time, this shot if taken last year would have been a very different picture, I think you know where I'm going here... the masked face of the onlooker, worried about catching the SARS virus lifts this shot out of the ordinary and places it into an altogether different catagory.

Great scene perfectly captured...Colors, framing and composition are very pleasant...Very well done Thien!

I like main subjects in the shot but the mask-wearer is an unwelcome distraction. BTW, it's unlikely that the mask is being worn for protection from SARS; people in Japan having been wearing masks for years either when they have caught cold or when they are suffering from allergies. The masks are most common in the spring when colds & allergies are most frequent.

Interesting. I especially like the bored expression on one of the ladies in pink. She is not enjoying herself, I think. Yeah, fence is distracting, a shot from the other side with just the women and the tea would have been better...anyway, I like the bored expression and you got it wonderfully. Good job!

Très belle photo, les deux japonaises de gauche me plaisent davantage que celles de droite avec leur masque, mais le contrate des deux fait un beau mélange. Bravo, belle photo.
Very beautiful photo, both left Japanese please me more than those of right-hand side with their mask, but the contrate both makes a beautiful mixture. Bravo, beautiful photo.

Interesting shot, Thien, with a nice composition. Contrast of colours are nice.
Well done.

Great picture, I love these beautiful traditional japanese clothes! The mouth protection is an interesting object in this picture too.
