[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A quiet peaceful residental street in downtown Hiroshima, Japan - however this has not always been the case.

At 8.15am on August 6, 1945 an atom bomb exploded 580meters directly above this site - and the rest is history. The A-Bomb Dome which has become the symbol of the destruction caused by the bomb is about 100meters away.

In workshop I will include a close-up of the information plaque shown here.

Hello Marlene

I have to say this is a very powerful photo, a powerful message and at the same time I must say I am quite puzzled why it hasn't recieved any feedback yet.
There is nothing to complain about the quality, the colours looks good and the light is just right to cast the right shadows.
Composition looks good as well. I'm not the big fan on "head-on" photos, but I feel balance is retained in the photo and that makes me make an exception to my usual opinion.
Magnificent photo, and with the workshop I must say it is a morally powerful photo.
Thank you for sharing.

Excellent photo

Dear Marlene Fegan

I did some research through your photography and I need to say, that I like the way how your interpretation of places, situations, etc. looks like ...

When I’m thinking about your point of view, it reminds me my own one, so probably this is the main reason why I like your shots ! :)

About this particular shot ... We all have that difficult responsibility to take, to think how to continue building a civilization of harmony and peace, rather than madness of conflicts and war ... We all have to think, how great pain and suffer lies there, in Hiroshima before ... But not only there unfortunately ...
I was born and I live in Poland, country which was attacked by Nazi Germans and by Communists from Russia on the same day, which was the first day of the Second World War ... And after this madness of war, three of „Chiefs”, just draw down new shape of Europe, world where whole nations were literally squizzed down, under Russian domination ... about 50 years or more in a very tight cell of do's and dont's ! ...

It was done, they decided then to establish insane political system of absurds in Poland.
Important for me and for my Family was that this period of time was when my Parents and millions of others had about 20` years. They had dreams of freedom without any chances to realize that, because they lived in Europe which was divided between two parts, Bright and rich and Dark, the poor one ... They were less lucky than others from Western Countries ... Due to that, sometimes, when I get stressed, I just stop and think how lucky bastrd am I, to live in a free country now, in fortunate part of the world ... To have free choice of studies, to extend all my hobbies, to have an open way to choose anything I want to do with the time which is given to me ...

Quite significant thing ... I actually work in a famous Japanese Corporation here in Poland ... It's small world where we live nowadays, isn't it.

You know, I just wanted to say, GREAT SHOT Marlene ! :) It brings memories alive.

Good and powerful enough I’d say :)

Great angle and framing. Well done !

Best Wishes

Lukas "Jobak"

WAR NEVER AGAIN!!!

Thank You For this Photo

Hello Marlene!
This shot is impressive by that there is absolutely peaceful and usual street with absolutely usual houses now - and nothing (except the plaque) could remind what happened here 62 years earlier..
Kind regards, Igor
