Repost of greetings
from Oginoshima kayabuki village〈荻ノ島環状かやぶき集落〉.
I found these kayabuki (thatched-roof) houses particularly cute, as if they are sitting there welcoming us, or making a big statement as a proof of old days.
If no one is living in, their roofs will rot and fall apart. Locals are trying to raise money to preserve them and keep the area alive.
Those two on the right with white towels hanging in between are inns. Upon further reading, I learned that they are more of the rental cottages, you get to use the whole place for yourself.
What is the minimum number of guests required?
Negotiable, they say.
** Blue cast removed, foreground lightened using layers/masks, sharpened with High Pass method.
My special thanks to Chris for all the technical help. |

Good morning Kei, welcome back
Since I dont really know what the original looked like, I`ll comment on this one.
A fine POV, with the field in the foreground leading the eye to the real motive. Wonderful Japanese colors on the forest in the background, though I`d like them just a bit more saturated, also nice cloud definition.
I like this cadre in general. A nice way to show us the culture yet again, with a good note.
See you around.
Hello Kei. I remembered visiting your gallery long time ago and now the revisit is very fortunate. Excellent gallery sharing the beautiful Japan which is not that many in TE. This shot is so pristine making the toiled land excellent perspective leading to kayabuki. I like the autumn leaves at the back making this a peaceful place to be. Thanks for sharing and very well done. Regards. Jusni
