Photographer’s Note
I went back to my home town in Hiroshima last weekend. I saw him at very old hotel that is generally known as Ryokan(Japanese style hotel).
He is the owner of the hotel. And the hotel has been there since MEIJI period(about a hundred years ago), flooded once 35 years ago, but he didn't want to end the history of the hotel so he's been working hard to keep it open. It was only 4000 yen for one night...too cheap!
He kept bragging about the panels. He prefers the left one because the tiger looks stronger than the right one so she probably works better to chase away the bad lucks. The panels were soaked up in the flooded water but one of his friends fixed it for him. The paintings were drawn in TAISHOU period(about 90 years ago).
The hotel was soo old and it had this atmosphere that I was pulled back to 100 years ago. It is worth to stay over a night there.
Check WS, I uploaded a picture of the back side of the left panel and of the first telephone in my town that was setted in this hotel in Meiji period.

Oh oy, I just stumbled on this one and it is VERY good, Lauryn, maji... So well set up with that "respectful" low POV and that rpud man with his tigers. Cool!

Hiya Lauryn, I hope that all is well. I like this candid shot of the Ryokan owner who is proudly standing beside the old paintings. The low POV enhances the dignified feeling. The WS with the old phone and the "kawaii" items around is interesting, too.

HI Lauryn,
Nice positioning and point of view. I especially like how he's posing with his hands on his hips looking off to the side. Interesting to see some history from you home town. I like the other two in your workshop as well. This one is definitly the front runner though.
Take care,
Brian

zigさん、お帰りなさい。久しぶりのアップですね。
I can feel the sense of pride in this hotel owner as he stands confidently next to the artwork. The position of him on the left of the frame makes the panels really stand out, but at the sam e time, don't make him appear "smaller" in comparison to the powerful animals shown on the prints.
