[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The first in a mini series on the Sanja Matsuri festival. The festival is one of the "Three Great Festivals of Edo" (present day Tokyo), along with the Kanda Festival and Sanno Festival, and is known as one of the wildest. It is held by ujiko (inhabitants of the neighbouring community) on the third weekend of every May at Asakusa Shrine. The climax of the festival is the parade of the Mikoshi small carriages used to carry deities.

Terrific shot, Peter, looks even better full size like this (as opposed to on your LCD...) Brilliant POV here and focus on the painful details of this masochistic practice ;o) reminds me of sad third grade gladiators getting ready for action...
Cheers,
Francis

Hey Peter

Nice low pov. Great comp/crop. Very sharp and good detail. I like the conectration on the mens face as they lace up. The feet in the back add to the depth. Good wide angle. Anyhow well done.

Hi Peter, ah, the festival is called Sanja Matsuri? Thanks for the info! (I was a bit lazy to seek for the info) These guys looks like they have a trouble tieing up the shoes. I like how you took the photo of them. I didn't think about lowering to get an angle like this. A fine document shot!
