I spotted them 30 metres before.
The First time I hold up my camera, released the shutter,. noticed the camera wasn't on.
The second time, they turned back and I didn't get their faces in the photo.
The third time, I got this shot, but blurry. They didn't touch each others after then.
I had to stalk them for 30 metres that is pretty long distance for following after certain people, yet I didn't get the best shot out of them...SIGH!
Well I said "I" stalked them, well actually Francis and Peter and I stalked them.
When you do Street photography, sometimes it's hard to decide where to draw a line. You can't do it just standing too far from the subject, but at the same time you can't scare them by getting too close so you invade their personal space. You need to stand at inbetween them.
I guess we were at right position then, keeping some distance from them but yet not too far from them and also didn't let them know that we kept our eyes on them. |

A hint, Lauryn: when you run ito sharpness problems but still have a decent scene lke here, turn to BW - it tends to help. Let me illustrate with a WS, ok?
Nice moment, I remember it well...
Francis
Hiya Lauryn. I almost suffered with you when I was reading the note of your multiple attempts, and in the end you got this one which - yes - isn't perfectly sharp, but still a charming illustration of the interaction between the two older guys. I also find the way in which they are positioned against the vivid Shibuya background to work quite well, without too many distracting elements.
I like Francis's WS, although I only agree about the added contrast being necessary, not the b&w ;o)

Lauryn,
A commented on this on your blog so i won't go into much detail. I like the workshop by Francis but i also love the neon here. A great moment it could be a little sharper but hey you didn't have much time. I look forward to more uploads soon. Thanks for the comments on my Tokyo gallery. Yes it is really interesting that everyone sees the world differently!
Cheers
Peter

Hi, Lauryn, again.
I can't say this photo is technically good...
But you caught here a lovely, friendly moment, and this is the most important thing : emotions in the pictures.
Best regards. Grazyna.
