Photographer’s Note
Another shot of the charismatic stone lanterns of Miyajima off the coast of Honshu Island. Miyajima is an easy 1/2 day trip from Hiroshima.
A wider view of Itsukushima Shrine in the bg here:

Hi Chris,
Your pictures from Japan are always a revealation. The emerald green water, the typically Japanese structures in the BG and the overhanging branch nicely complement the stone lantern.

Hello Chris,
Nice juxtaposition between lantern and the buildings opposite; just a pity the bottom of the lantern is so tightly cropped. Pleasing tones, particularly in the jade green water.

I like the composition with the lantern on the left(maybe just a slight movement to the left for space?)The tree branches seem to be pointing to the buildings. Interesting use of DOF with the buildings only slightly oof.

Hi Chris,
very fine textured lantern and superb sharp branch before the soft blurred background. It is again a wonderful colour composition. I have the impression of a wide angle, but you used none.

I don't know why, but Japanese landscape scenes always seem so harmonious and well balanced. The stone lantern seems almost natural, with a weathered appearance like a boulder. The temples are great, and the overhanging pine adds the final touch. Excellent!

Hi Chris,
It's a beautiful photo, with a great pov and very nice colour contrast. The only less great thing is the oe on the brighter surfaces, but that is a minor detail that doesn't harm much.
Regards, José.

Salut Chris,
Que de couleurs dans cette photo dans laquelle tout est déformé ! Cette lanterne en pierre a une architecture remarquable.
Merci pour le partage.

Hi Chris. It's good to see a new POV from this place to help complete the picture. The light looks tough to deal with as it's so harsh but you did as well as you could hope for. tfs Chris.

Bonjour Chris,
A different angle of the temple complex with the inclusion of the stone lantern in FG and the branch hanging on top of it. Good framing and colors.

Hi Chris
excellent composition with the well-lit stone lantern on the left balancing the floating shrine. I also like how the shrine's structure is rendered relatively softer when compared with the rough lantern. well taken!

Hi Chris - quaint exotic charm combines with the appealing clean water below, it almost (almost!!) looks like a thai beach, only much more sanitised, and probaby too chilly to be swimmeable.
