Photographer’s Note
Ask someone about Japan, and they will inevitably tell you about rush hour trains. Some are, of course, worse than others; the Sobu and Sobu Rapid (Yokosuka-sen) trains are probably the most crowded that you'll encounter in Tokyo in the evenings. I never personally witnessed the rail employees shoving people into trains - I guess we always did a good enough job ourselves. This is a habit that people seem to get used to after a very short while. But tourists be warned!

This is great, catches the mood of a packed ruch hour train perfectly. PoV and angle both work to good effect. This goes straight into my favourites.

Having been there, this accurately conveys what it feels like to be a giant gaijin on the subway at rush hour. Minus the overpowering heat and humidity and everyone messaging on their cellphones.
